Privacy Policy

Piki stores your trips on your device and syncs them through your own iCloud account. We don't have a server, and we can't see your data.

Data we collect

All data lives on your device and in your own iCloud account. We have no servers and never see it.

• User Content: trip name, destination, dates, notes, itinerary items, photos you add, packing list, and saved restaurants.
• Location: addresses and coordinates you save with itinerary items, restaurants, and trip stops. Used to render maps, fetch weather, and detect each stop's timezone. We don't track your real-time location.
• Contact Info: a display name you set in Settings → Profile, shown to trip owners when you request to join their trip.
• Identifiers: your iCloud user ID, used by Apple to route iCloud sync and shared-trip invitations.

No tracking identifiers, advertising IDs, browsing history, search history, financial info, health/fitness data, sensitive info, or audio recordings are collected.

How Apple's iCloud fits in

Piki relies on Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) to sync your data across your own devices and to enable trip sharing. Apple processes this data on our behalf under Apple's iCloud privacy policy. We have no access to the iCloud pipeline — encryption keys for your private trips remain in your Apple account.

Permissions we ask for

We only request permissions when you take an action that needs them, and we explain why at the OS prompt:

• Photo Library (read): match the photos you've already added to a trip so we don't duplicate them.
• Photo Library (add): save a trip photo back to your library when you tap Save in the photo viewer.
• Contacts: read your contacts to show profile photos for people you've shared trips with — used only for display, never uploaded.
• Calendar (write only): add your itinerary to a dedicated trip calendar when you tap "Add to Calendar." We don't read your existing calendars.

Sharing trips

When you share a trip, the trip's contents (itinerary, photos, dates, notes, the activity feed of edits) become readable by the people you share with via Apple's CKShare. Two paths:

• Send invite link: you pick a contact in Messages, Mail, or AirDrop and they tap to accept. No data leaves Apple's iCloud.
